When we nurture, we support and we encourage the efforts of new life to flourish, through their own efforts.
That’s natures way!
But, people don’t nurture any more!!!
Does it matter?
That alone is pretty much responsible for everything wrong with our world!
And rightly so!
Without nurture, we are all lost in a cruel parody of the natural world, where nothing is as it should be, and life is unnecessarily violent, lonely, cruel, and uncomfortable!
This just makes perfect sense! Of course there are going to be serious consequences! It seems obvious that nurture is important!
Absence of nurture has caused our entire planet to become angry and violent.
It has caused all of us to be sick with psychosomatic illnesses!
It has destroyed trust, community, friendship, self-esteem, confidence, all around awareness, our instincts, our feelings, and fun!
All because we don’t nurture!
We consider our young to be like little dolls! We make them behave, and look pretty, all at our own whim! We decide what they will do! We force them to learn what we choose, on our timetable!
Is it obvious that this is not nurturing? This is control!
Why can’t we see the results of what we do?
Because we can’t, not once this damage has happened to us!
We are nurture blind!
The smartest person in the world can’t see the results of nurture! Not if they didn’t get any!
How is it possible that life could be that simple!
How could “cause and effect” be that consistent and predictable, and we still haven’t caught on?
Our entire existence changes dramatically, almost like a sudden gunshot wound, and we don’t notice the staggering change happening with every tiny change we make in nurturing?
Well, perhaps you could tell me why we don’t see! Just look at all mankind has accomplished! And we don’t notice this? The single most important relationship to understand, in our entire existence?
The trail of evidence lies behind us like a big neon sign!
We all hurt and act out! Everybody is angry. And still we don’t see!
Supporting our infants in their own efforts and encouraging their own development, produces the kindest, gentlest, and most loving creatures in the universe.
It doesn’t cause irresponsible and destructive people. It’s our control that causes that! What nurture causes, is the most lovely people the world has to offer! The evidence is everywhere!
This has always been true, clearly obvious, right on display all around us, and still we don’t see the importance!
We choose the path of defensive life, and attempt to make our young self-sufficient, in a world where every cell of our bodies craves acceptance and sharing.
This is reasonable if we have been damaged through lack of our own nurture.
It’s not reasonable that with all our learning as a race, we have managed to avoid understanding this one critical need.
The one most important relationship we will ever be part of.
Nurture is crucial to our own health and happiness! All of us!
Our scientists have no greater problem to map out than this one relationship!
There is no more important task in existence.
This alone determines the well being, and level of happiness of every one of us, on the planet!
There is a tiny bit of good news. All of our accumulated knowledge in health, psychology, therapy, trauma, and criminology point the same way. We need to be open to be healthy. We need to share our hurt!
Of course we shouldn’t hurt in the first place, but that’s a different part of our story.
As we learn to be open, through dealing with our own hurt, we become more accepting of the wishes and feelings of others.
That’s part of the path back!
Any guesses as to why we all hurt?
I thought you would know. Nurture! We didn’t get any!
