Look at the direction that all of our sciences are taking us.
We know that our criminals were once troubled children.
We know people become healthy adults unless they encounter some sort of trauma.
We basically understand that people are lovely until damaged somehow.
We know we can fix some trauma by encouraging the expression of the events. Our therapy is based on this.
What else do we know? We know we began life strong and gloriously happy. We know something happened, and now we hurt all the time, and can no longer express ourselves full-out.
We also know that everybody else is in the same condition, or worse. We know our world has become full of conflict and differing ideologies.
We know that control is becoming increasingly necessary.
Why is all this happening?
Our understandings are converging on a single truth.
People are being damaged somehow. They don’t start out this troubled.
How and when is this happening?
In nature we see all life nurtured until strong enough to survive independently.
The power of every living thing is encouraged in every way possible.
Do people do that? Do we encourage the power of our offspring?
We do not. We are the only life that opposes that.
Putting all this together, is there an answer here?
I think we are all aware we do the best we can for our young!
How much are we really helping?
If we don’t help our young feel naturally competent and powerful, could they still have high self-esteem?
If our young don’t have high self-esteem, would it explain the issues we just outlined? Would it explain the countless people struggling to deal with low self-esteem?
Would it explain why everybody is frightened and keeping secrets, instead of “living out loud”?
I believe it is pretty clear that all of our sciences are converging on the same understanding. People need to keep the same power they were born with.
All other life already does.
Then therapy isn’t necessary to put it back.
Almost all of this information is already accepted understanding.
The only part that isn’t, is the leap that damage is happening at a person’s most vulnerable moment, that of infancy and early childhood.
I expect this will be accepted wisdom soon, and probably already is in many places. It’s simply, the next step!
Just imagine everybody’s reluctance to say it out loud though. It changes just about everything.
I want to just leave this discussion right here for now.
Everybody doesn’t have to agree on what has put our entire population into trauma.
It only takes a few, all understanding the same issue, in the same way to reach a tipping point and that can change the world.
If we all keep the self-esteem that we were born with and then while feeling strong, behave straight out the way we really are, instead of defensively, how different and probably lovely, the world would become.
Thanks for listening.
Good luck on your own journey,
Take care,
Norm
