How can someone rebuild self-confidence after years of rejection?

This can be done. It comes down to a long, steady process of undoing what others have caused us to do to ourselves. It’s the same process as what happens in therapy.

What happened to us?

First, let’s look at how life is supposed to be.

Life is powered from within. Every life is. Everything wonderful and exciting comes from inside as well.

This needs support and encouragement. It’s natural. We call it nurture.

Any of us who received this natural nurture are still well connected with our feelings, needs, and instincts.

Mankind has, one small step at a time, lost the art of nurture. Predictably, we lost our inborn sense of power and our loving qualities at the same time.

Our leaders have brought us here. They are not the wisest of us.

We have, step by step, learned to ignore the most important needs of our young. Our present world is the consequence.

Most of us are anxious, lonely, and isolated.

HOW TO FIX THIS!

What have we done to ourselves? We have hidden everything about ourselves that others have found fault with.

Were they ever right? No. They were reacting from their own inner trauma.

Our job is to once again feel OK with all our supposed faults. Then we no longer have to hide anything. This is empowering beyond belief. It’s “living out loud”, the way all life is meant to do.

It’s night and day. It’s a superpower. This is what therapy gradually does.

HOW DO WE PROCEED?

One small step at a time, we reveal ourselves. Embarrassing or not, we put ourselves out there. This includes feelings. Feelings may well be the most important release.

We all go through the same discovery as we do this.

The world doesn’t end after all. What actually happens is we rapidly get stronger. The surprise, though, is that we begin to receive respect. Yes, that happens. There never was anything wrong with us. Suddenly, we are doing something most are too afraid to do.

Others are aware. They can see it, even though they don’t understand enough about life to try it for themselves.

That is the path. It will gradually restore the same self-confidence we began life with.

There is no downside. Our behavior will become more loving over time as we regain a natural connection to our own feelings, needs, and instincts. Everything kind and loving comes from within. We will be getting this back.

Remember, life comes from the inside. Allow that in others, most importantly in the children. They will set the stage for the next generation.

Thanks for listening.

Good luck on your journey.

Take care,
