This world is a tough place to be. Emotionally, it’s probability about as bad as it gets.
The reason I say that is because if any of us were to suddenly turn up in a world as it should be, where love is normal and our entire identity is welcome and accepted , it is my feeling that we would lower our guard and begin living the way we should be, the way we started out, open and loving.
In other words, I believe our environment keeps us locked in to the inner life we live.
Many of us are in therapy. The goal is to once again be ourselves. In that condition we are the best person we can ever be. We all long to feel that way once again.
Do we have to change the world in order to be ourselves again. It feels that way, doesn’t it.
Is it possible to be our own island of peace in a turbulent and vicious world? I don’t know. I hope so.
My message is usually encouragement for all parents to allow their young to be accepted as their own identity and live it, without having to defy that identity to be obedient. This allows society to gradually recover. In the long run, it fixes the world.
But this question reflects another problem entirely. Is it possible to be completely ourselves with all that we are, in this damaged world?
My guess is we need to find a safe environment first.
This society forbids us to be ourselves.
